RHD Non-invasive Prenatal Testing (RHD NIPT)

RHD NIPT is a simple maternal blood test that can determine the RhD blood group of the fetus and determine whether RhD Ig is recommended for an RhD negative woman to prevent HDFN.

The test uses fragments of fetal DNA found in the mother’s circulation from 11 weeks gestation to predict the fetal RhD blood group. By determining the RhD fetal blood group, this then enables targeted RhD Ig prophylaxis, ensuring RhD Ig is administered only to those women who require it (RhD negative woman carrying an RhD positive fetus).
