RHD Non-invasive Prenatal Testing (RHD NIPT)
RHD NIPT is a simple blood test used to determine the RhD blood type of the fetus for RhD negative women in pregnancy. The test result can determine whether an RhD negative women requires RhD immunoglobulin therapy to prevent development of red cell anti-D antibodies and Haemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn (HDFN).
The RHD NIPT test is generally completed between 12-26 weeks for all RhD negative women in pregnancy. The test is only used to determine the RhD blood group of the fetus.
